COVID-19 Relief Support for Railway Porters
In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill, thousands of daily wage workers struggled to meet basic needs due to the sudden nationwide lockdown. Recognizing the urgent challenges faced by vulnerable communities, Nature9 Foundation stepped forward with timely relief efforts to support those most affected—including the railway porters (coolies) at Chandigarh Railway Station.
Supporting Frontline Daily Wage Earners
Railway porters have long served as an essential workforce, assisting millions of travelers every year. However, with train services halted and public movement restricted during the pandemic, their livelihoods came to an abrupt halt. With no daily income and limited access to resources, these workers were among the hardest hit.
